Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in West Los Angeles
CBT isn't about positive thinking, it's about accurate thinking. Most people come to therapy because they're stuck.

The same thoughts loop. The same patterns repeat.

The same situations keep producing the same outcomes — and no matter how much insight you have about why, nothing seems to change.

That's where Cognitive Behavioral Therapy comes in.

What It Looks Like In Practice

CBT is structured and collaborative. We don't just talk — we work. Sessions have direction. You'll learn to identify the thought patterns that are keeping you stuck, examine whether they're actually accurate, and replace them with responses that serve you better.

You'll also develop behavioral strategies. Because insight alone rarely changes anything. Action does.

Between sessions you may have practical exercises — not busywork, but real tools that extend the work beyond the hour we spend together.

The goal is always the same. To help you become your own therapist. To give you skills you carry with you long after our work together is done.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Certification Matters.

Many therapists claim to have CBT expertise, but only a select few can say that they are certified. Certification matters. Do your due diligence and ensure that your therapist is what they market themselves to be.

Around the world, CBT therapists are only able to claim "Certified Cognitive Therapist," "Certified CBT Therapist," or "Certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist" when they have undergone the Academy of Cognitive & Behavioral Therapies (A-CBT)'s Diplomate protocol, which includes CBT training by ACT Certified Trainers, demonstrated expertise in CBT with past clients, CBT related readings, CBT client audio session submission for evaluation by the ACT (with a score of 40/66 or higher), and submissions of CBT Case Conceptualizations for evaluation by the ACT (with a score of 20/24 or higher.)

I was able to conduct and formalize my training with Academy of Cognitive & Behavioral Therapies Certified Trainers such as Leslie Sokol, Ph.D, R. Trent Codd, III, Ed.S and others.

What CBT Is Good For
CBT has strong evidence behind it for depression, anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, career challenges, grief, and life transitions. It works particularly well for high functioning people who want to understand what's happening and have tools to address it — not just talk about it indefinitely.
If you're someone who values directness, structure, and measurable progress, CBT is probably a good fit for you.

A Note on What CBT Isn't
CBT isn't about pretending everything is fine. It isn't about forcing gratitude or reframing your way out of real pain. It isn't a quick fix or a set of tricks.

It's a rigorous, honest process of examining how your mind works — and learning to work with it more effectively. Done well, it's one of the most practical and lasting forms of help available.
