Therapy and Support for Family Members
Having a loved one or family member struggling with mental health, physical health or substance abuse issues is the culmination of our worst fears. Trying to navigate resources, your level of involvement and still finding ways of caring for yourself requires tremendous balance, and doing these things alone often leads to burnout.
I highly recommend reaching out for support as there are a number of wonderful resources in Los Angeles to support you:
NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is a major advocate for mental health issues. They have a number of support groups targeted to family members and individuals with mental health challenges. These groups contain a variety of formats including peer-to-peer, diagnosis-specific and more. Connect with the Westside Los Angeles NAMI affiliate for more information.
SHARE! is another wonderful organization, which provides self-help on a host of topics including co-dependency, adult children of alcoholics and dysfunctional families, families of addicts and more.
Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health has a built-in network of providers and supports throughout Los Angeles County. If you are looking for support and guidance, you can call (800) 854-7771 for 24/7 support, advice and recommendations.

Do you need personalized, customized or more intensive support?
Are you struggling to cope? Having a loved one, family member, friend or even an acquaintance struggle with severe mental health, physical health or substance abuse issues can be devastating. The feelings are complex, the thoughts overwhelming. Daily tasks are made monumentally more difficult with something like this on our minds.
I would know. Not only have I spent my full-time career supporting and navigating some of the toughest homeless, mental health, physical health and substance abuse cases on this side of town, but I was raised in a family rife with mental health, physical health and substance abuse issues. My upbringing has informed my work and inspires passion in combating mental health stigma.
The process of care-taking causes burnout. It is too much to do alone. The good news is that there are many amazing people and organizations out there for support.
If you need additional recommendations or support, please feel free to contact me directly. I'd be honored to support you in getting assistance.
